Pre-treatment Tips and Advice
For best results hair needs to be 1/4" in length to ensure complete removal
Do not bath or shower immediately before waxing as this can cause skin irritation.
Please note that waxing over a self tan will cause the tan to lift. This can also happen with natural tans as the wax will lift the dead skin cells.
Waxing is also not advised immediately after heat treatments such as a sauna, steam or ultra-violet treatment.
DO NOT WAX if you have any of the following conditions: heart problems, varicose veins, poor circulation, diabetes, epilepsy, phlebitis or any skin conditions including sunburnt skin, cuts, swollen bruised areas, warts, moles, edema or recent scar tissue (3 months), undiagnosed bumps or hypersensitive skin. Waxing is also not advised if you are pregnant.
Please inform your therapist if you are using any of the following prescription drugs, as waxing is not recommended due to the possible side effects: Accutane, Retin-A, Alpha Hydroxy and/or Glycolic based drugs.
Try not to book in for your waxing treatment just prior to or during menstruation as this is when your body is at its most sensitive and the 'ouch' factor will be at its greatest!
If you are considering waxing private areas for the first time, please do not be embarrassed, therapist's trained in 'extreme' waxing have seen it all before and will do their best to put you at ease. If it is your first wax, or you have not been waxed in this area recently, please be prepared or be prepared to have your therapist trim your hairs to about 2cms or less (but leaving enough for the wax to hold onto). Ripping out long hairs is guaranteed to give maximum pain!
Try to relax during treatment - yes, easier said than done! But the more relaxed you are, the easier it will be for your therapist to pull out the hairs, and the less pain it will cause.
